An official profile page (an individual's "homepage") is generated automatically when a member of staff arrives in the Department. The URL for one of these pages is of the form
http://www.eng.cam.ac.uk/~useridwhere 'userid' is the person's user id on the CUED system.
The information comes from the EDDA database. If it's wrong, contact edda-updates
The automatically generated page is intended as a skeleton, which you can fill out with more detailed information such as research interests, and links to other pages that you may create yourself. You can update this automatically generated profile page in various ways:
\\update-www.eng.cam.ac.uk\useridreplacing userid with your own userid. Once you have connected to the network drive, you can edit your profile just as you would any other file on your computer. If you have difficulty in connecting to the server, please contact pc-support@eng.cam.ac.uk
smb://update-www.eng.cam.ac.uk/userid(From the 'Go' menu, choose 'Connect to server', and enter the above into the Address box.) replacing userid with your own userid. Once you have connected to the network drive, you can edit your profile just as you would any other file on your computer. If you have difficulty in connecting to the server, you can try the following alternate form of the address:
smb://updatewww/useridIf you are still unable to connect, please contact mac-support@eng.cam.ac.uk
If your research group runs its own (reliable) web server, you can also have the standard URL http://www.eng.cam.ac.uk/~userid point to a page on that server. Ask webadmin@eng.cam.ac.uk to set up the redirection. (Note: redirections to home pages on www2.eng.cam.ac.uk are not available. If you have a page on www2.eng.cam.ac.uk that you want to use as your official profile page, you can use the methods described above to move it to www.eng.cam.ac.uk.)
If you edit the automatically generated page, or create a page of your own, it should conform to the Department's house style for staff profile pages. Please also read the Worldwide Web Departmental Guidelines.
