Introduction to the Teaching System

The Introduction for New Users is the first handout people are given. Once you've read that then you may wish to read about

• The main machines in more depth
• How to work from offsite
• Computing issues for researchers
• Computing issues for teaching staff
• The "Teaching System" more generally
• Unix from the Command Line (with a list of common commands)

See the Computer Administration page for details about Quotas, Passwords, etc. The system provides you with a default set-up. If you wish to change this then read about Customising.

Before using newsgroups or e-mail messages it's worth reading about Netiquette.
